The Geoffrey Street Piper is Michael MacDonald.

Michael has lived on Geoffrey Street in the West End of Toronto near Roncesvalles for over 30 years and has often practiced his bagpipes in his backyard.

This is a very urban neighbourhood with approximately 200 houses on each block all within feet of each other or attached. Neighbours many streets south used to hear the pipes, but like the pot at the end of the rainbow, when they went looking, the bagpiper wasn’t there.

Thus the name the Geoffrey Street Piper – most people don’t know who he is.

I think the origin of the name was Ed Lamb who lives on the block, but that is not confirmed.

After playing in amateur and professional solo contests for over 50 years, the Geoffrey Street Piper has released his first CD
